1These are the records of Noah's sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, to whom descendants were born after the flood.1This is the account of the families of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, the three sons of Noah. Many children were born to them after the great flood. Descendants of Japheth
2Japheth's descendants included Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.2The descendants of Japheth were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
3Gomer's descendants included Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.3The descendants of Gomer were Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah.
4Javan's descendants included Elisha, Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim,4The descendants of Javan were Elishah, Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.
5from whom the coastal peoples spread into their own lands and nations, each with their own language and family groups.5Their descendants became the seafaring peoples that spread out to various lands, each identified by its own language, clan, and national identity. Descendants of Ham
6Ham's descendants included Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.6The descendants of Ham were Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan.
7Cush's descendants included Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. Raamah's descendants included Sheba and Dedan.7The descendants of Cush were Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The descendants of Raamah were Sheba and Dedan.
8Cush fathered Nimrod, who became the first fearless leader throughout the land. 8Cush was also the ancestor of Nimrod, who was the first heroic warrior on earth.
9He became a fearless hunter in defiance of the LORD. That is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a fearless hunter in defiance of the LORD." 9Since he was the greatest hunter in the world, his name became proverbial. People would say, “This man is like Nimrod, the greatest hunter in the world.”
10His kingdom began in the region of Shinar with the cities of Babylon, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh. 10He built his kingdom in the land of Babylonia, with the cities of Babylon, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh.
11From there he went north to Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, and Calah, 11From there he expanded his territory to Assyria, building the cities of Nineveh, Rehoboth-ir, Calah,
12along with Resen, which was located between Nineveh and the great city of Calah.12and Resen (the great city located between Nineveh and Calah).
13Egypt fathered the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehabites, the Naphtuhites, 13Mizraim was the ancestor of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites,

15Canaan fathered Sidon his firstborn, along with the Hittites, 15Canaan’s oldest son was Sidon, the ancestor of the Sidonians. Canaan was also the ancestor of the Hittites,
16the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, 16Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites,
17the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, 17Hivites, Arkites, Sinites,
18the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Later, the Canaanite families were widely scattered. 18Arvadites, Zemarites, and Hamathites. The Canaanite clans eventually spread out,
19The Canaanite border extended south from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and east toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha.19and the territory of Canaan extended from Sidon in the north to Gerar and Gaza in the south, and east as far as Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, near Lasha.
20These are Ham's descendants, listed by their families, each with their own lands, language, and family groups.20These were the descendants of Ham, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity. Descendants of Shem
21Shem, Japheth's older brother, also had descendants. Shem was the father of the descendants of Eber. 21Sons were also born to Shem, the older brother of Japheth. Shem was the ancestor of all the descendants of Eber.
22Shem's sons included Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.22The descendants of Shem were Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.
23Aram's descendants included Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.23The descendants of Aram were Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash.
24Arpachshad fathered Cainan, Cainan fathered Shelah, and Shelah fathered Eber.24Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah was the father of Eber.
25To Eber were born two sons. One was named Peleg, because the earth was divided during his lifetime. His brother was named Joktan.25Eber had two sons. The first was named Peleg (which means “division”), for during his lifetime the people of the world were divided into different language groups. His brother’s name was Joktan.
26Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, 26Joktan was the ancestor of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah,
27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, 27Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah,
28Obal, Abimael, Sheba, 28Obal, Abimael, Sheba,
29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were Joktan's descendants. 29Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab. All these were descendants of Joktan.
30Their settlements extended from Mesha towards Sephar, the eastern hill country.30The territory they occupied extended from Mesha all the way to Sephar in the eastern mountains.
31These are Shem's descendants, listed by their families, each with their own lands, language, and family groups.31These were the descendants of Shem, identified by clan, language, territory, and national identity. Conclusion
32These are the families of Noah's sons, according to their records, by their nations. From these people, the nations on the earth spread out after the flood.32These are the clans that descended from Noah’s sons, arranged by nation according to their lines of descent. All the nations of the earth descended from these clans after the great flood.
