King James Bible | Berean Study Bible |
How beautiful are thy feet with shoes, O prince's daughter! the joints of thy thighs are like jewels, the work of the hands of a cunning workman. | 1How beautiful are your sandaled feet, O daughter of the prince! The curves of your thighs are like jewels, the handiwork of a master. |
Thy navel is like a round goblet, which wanteth not liquor: thy belly is like an heap of wheat set about with lilies. | 2Your navel is a rounded goblet; it never lacks blended wine. Your waist is a mound of wheat encircled by the lilies. |
Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins. | 3Your breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle. |
Thy neck is as a tower of ivory; thine eyes like the fishpools in Heshbon, by the gate of Bathrabbim: thy nose is as the tower of Lebanon which looketh toward Damascus. | 4Your neck is like a tower made of ivory; your eyes are like the pools of Heshbon by the gate of Bath-rabbim; your nose is like the tower of Lebanon, facing toward Damascus. |
Thine head upon thee is like Carmel, and the hair of thine head like purple; the king is held in the galleries. | 5Your head crowns you like Mount Carmel, the hair of your head like purple threads; the king is captured in your tresses. |
How fair and how pleasant art thou, O love, for delights! | 6How fair and pleasant you are, O love, with your delights! |
This thy stature is like to a palm tree, and thy breasts to clusters of grapes. | 7Your stature is like a palm tree; your breasts are clusters of fruit. |
I said, I will go up to the palm tree, I will take hold of the boughs thereof: now also thy breasts shall be as clusters of the vine, and the smell of thy nose like apples; | 8I said, “I will climb the palm tree; I will take hold of its fruit.” May your breasts be like clusters of the vine, the fragrance of your breath like apples, |
And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak. | 9and your mouth like the finest wine. May it flow smoothly to my beloved, gliding gently over lips and teeth. |
I am my beloved's, and his desire is toward me. | 10I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me. |
Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. | 11Come, my beloved, let us go to the countryside; let us spend the night among the wildflowers. |
Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves. | 12Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vine has budded, if the blossom has opened, if the pomegranates are in bloom—there I will give you my love. |
The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved. | 13The mandrakes send forth a fragrance, and at our door is every delicacy, new as well as old, that I have treasured up for you, my beloved. |
