Psalm 116
KJV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleEnglish Standard Version
I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.1I love the LORD, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.2Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.3The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.4Then I called on the name of the LORD: “O LORD, I pray, deliver my soul!”
Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.5Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.
The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.6The LORD preserves the simple; when I was brought low, he saved me.
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.7Return, O my soul, to your rest; for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.8For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling;
I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.9I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:10I believed, even when I spoke: “I am greatly afflicted”;
I said in my haste, All men are liars.11I said in my alarm, “All mankind are liars.”
What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?12What shall I render to the LORD for all his benefits to me?
I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.13I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD,
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.14I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.15Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.16O LORD, I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant. You have loosed my bonds.
I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.17I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people,18I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,
In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.19in the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!
