| 1A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. | 1A song. A psalm of the sons of Korah. The LORD is great and highly praised in the city of our God. His holy mountain, |
| 2Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. | 2rising splendidly, is the joy of the whole earth. Mount Zion on the slopes of the north is the city of the great King. |
| 3God is known in her palaces for a refuge. | 3God is known as a stronghold in its citadels. |
| 4For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together. | 4Look! The kings assembled; they advanced together. |
| 5They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away. | 5They looked and froze with fear; they fled in terror. |
| 6Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. | 6Trembling seized them there, agony like that of a woman in labor, |
| 7Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. | 7as You wrecked the ships of Tarshish with the east wind. |
| 8As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. | 8Just as we heard, so we have seen in the city of Yahweh of Hosts, in the city of our God; God will establish it forever. Selah |
| 9We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple. | 9God, within Your temple, we contemplate Your faithful love. |
| 10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness. | 10Your name, God, like Your praise, reaches to the ends of the earth; Your right hand is filled with justice. |
| 11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments. | 11Mount Zion is glad. The towns of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments. |
| 12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof. | 12Go around Zion, encircle it; count its towers, |
| 13Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. | 13note its ramparts; tour its citadels so that you can tell a future generation:" |
| 14For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death. | 14This God, our God forever and ever-- He will always lead us." |
