To the chief Musician upon Nehiloth, A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.1For the choir director: with the flutes. A Davidic psalm. Listen to my words, LORD; consider my sighing.
Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.2Pay attention to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for I pray to You.
My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.3At daybreak, LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly.
For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.4For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil cannot dwell with You.
The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.5The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all evildoers.
Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the LORD will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors a man of bloodshed and treachery.
But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.7But I enter Your house by the abundance of Your faithful love; I bow down toward Your holy temple in reverential awe of You.
Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.8 LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my adversaries; make Your way straight before me.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.9For there is nothing reliable in what they say; destruction is within them; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongues.
Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.10Punish them, God; let them fall by their own schemes. Drive them out because of their many crimes, for they rebel against You.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.11But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them shout for joy forever. May You shelter them, and may those who love Your name boast about You.
For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.12For You, LORD, bless the righteous one; You surround him with favor like a shield.
