Psalm 71
KJV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
King James BibleInternational Standard Version
In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.1In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated.
Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me.2Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me.
Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.3Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress.
Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man.4My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil.
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young.
By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.6I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously.
I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge.7I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge.
Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.8My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily.
Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth.9Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails.
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together,10For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together
Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him.11and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer."
O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help.12God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me.
Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.13Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace.
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.14As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more.
My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.15I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be.
I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.16Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.
O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.17God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds.
Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come.18Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one.
Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!19Your many righteous deeds, God, are great,
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.20God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side.21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again.
I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel.22I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel.
My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed.23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed.
My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.24Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated.
