| 1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; | 1This is the written account of Adam's family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. |
| 2Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created. | 2He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them "Mankind" when they were created. |
| 3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth: | 3When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. |
| 4And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters: | 4After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 5And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. | 5Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died. |
| 6And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: | 6When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. |
| 7And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: | 7After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 8And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. | 8Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died. |
| 9And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: | 9When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. |
| 10And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: | 10After he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 11And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. | 11Altogether, Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died. |
| 12And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel: | 12When Kenan had lived 70 years, he became the father of Mahalalel. |
| 13And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: | 13After he became the father of Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 14And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. | 14Altogether, Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died. |
| 15And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: | 15When Mahalalel had lived 65 years, he became the father of Jared. |
| 16And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: | 16After he became the father of Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 17And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. | 17Altogether, Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died. |
| 18And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: | 18When Jared had lived 162 years, he became the father of Enoch. |
| 19And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: | 19After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 20And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died. | 20Altogether, Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died. |
| 21And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: | 21When Enoch had lived 65 years, he became the father of Methuselah. |
| 22And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: | 22After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked faithfully with God 300 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 23And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: | 23Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. |
| 24And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. | 24Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. |
| 25And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech: | 25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. |
| 26And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: | 26After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 27And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died. | 27Altogether, Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died. |
| 28And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: | 28When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. |
| 29And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. | 29He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." |
| 30And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: | 30After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. |
| 31And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. | 31Altogether, Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died. |
| 32And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth. | 32After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth. |
