King James Bible | New International Version |
And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. | 1Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. |
And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? | 2And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" |
And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. | 3But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. |
And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. | 4I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. |
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. | 5Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals." |
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. | 6Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. |
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. | 7He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. |
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. | 8And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people. |
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; | 9And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. |
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. | 10You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth." |
And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; | 11Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. |
Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. | 12In a loud voice they were saying: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" |
And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. | 13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" |
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever. | 14The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped. |
