New American Standard Bible 1995Berean Study Bible
A Psalm of David. O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You!1A Psalm of David. I call upon You, O LORD; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to You.
May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.2May my prayer be set before You like incense, my uplifted hands like the evening offering.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.3Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.4Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their delicacies.
Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.5Let the righteous man strike me; let his rebuke be an act of loving devotion. It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked.
Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant.6When their rulers are thrown down from the cliffs, the people will listen to my words, for they are pleasant.
As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.7As when one plows and breaks up the soil, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
For my eyes are toward You, O GOD, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless.8But my eyes are fixed on You, O GOD the Lord. In You I seek refuge; do not leave my soul defenseless.
Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity.9Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the lures of evildoers.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely.10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
