New American Standard Bible 1995NET Bible
For the choir director. A Psalm of David. How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The LORD will deliver him in a day of trouble.1For the music director; a psalm of David. How blessed is the one who treats the poor properly! When trouble comes, the LORD delivers him.
The LORD will protect him and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies.2May the LORD protect him and save his life! May he be blessed in the land! Do not turn him over to his enemies!
The LORD will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, You restore him to health.3The LORD supports him on his sickbed; you completely heal him from his illness.
As for me, I said, "O LORD, be gracious to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You."4As for me, I said: "O LORD, have mercy on me! Heal me, for I have sinned against you!
My enemies speak evil against me, "When will he die, and his name perish?"5My enemies ask this cruel question about me, 'When will he finally die and be forgotten?'
And when he comes to see me, he speaks falsehood; His heart gathers wickedness to itself; When he goes outside, he tells it.6When someone comes to visit, he pretends to be friendly; he thinks of ways to defame me, and when he leaves he slanders me.
All who hate me whisper together against me; Against me they devise my hurt, saying,7All who hate me whisper insults about me to one another; they plan ways to harm me.
"A wicked thing is poured out upon him, That when he lies down, he will not rise up again."8They say, 'An awful disease overwhelms him, and now that he is bed-ridden he will never recover.'
Even my close friend in whom I trusted, Who ate my bread, Has lifted up his heel against me.9Even my close friend whom I trusted, he who shared meals with me, has turned against me.
But You, O LORD, be gracious to me and raise me up, That I may repay them.10As for you, O LORD, have mercy on me and raise me up, so I can pay them back!"
By this I know that You are pleased with me, Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.11By this I know that you are pleased with me, for my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And You set me in Your presence forever.12As for me, you uphold me because of my integrity; you allow me permanent access to your presence.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, From everlasting to everlasting. Amen and Amen.13The LORD God of Israel deserves praise in the future and forevermore! We agree! We agree!
