Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth! | 1For the music director; according to the shushan-eduth style; a psalm of Asaph. O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor! |
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us! | 2In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us! |
O God, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. | 3O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people? | 4O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you? |
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And You have made them to drink tears in large measure. | 5You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure. |
You make us an object of contention to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves. | 6You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us. |
O God of hosts, restore us And cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. | 7O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
You removed a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it. | 8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it. |
You cleared the ground before it, And it took deep root and filled the land. | 9You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land. |
The mountains were covered with its shadow, And the cedars of God with its boughs. | 10The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches. |
It was sending out its branches to the sea And its shoots to the River. | 11Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River. |

A boar from the forest eats it away And whatever moves in the field feeds on it. | 13The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it. |
O God of hosts, turn again now, we beseech You; Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine, | 14O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine, |
Even the shoot which Your right hand has planted, And on the son whom You have strengthened for Yourself. | 15the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow! |
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. | 16It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them. |
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself. | 17May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself! |
Then we shall not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. | 18Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you! |
O LORD God of hosts, restore us; Cause Your face to shine upon us, and we will be saved. | 19O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! |
