NASB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New American Standard Bible 1995New Living Translation
For the choir director; according to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. Save me, O God, For the waters have threatened my life.1Save me, O God, for the floodwaters are up to my neck.
I have sunk in deep mire, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me.2Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me.
I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait for my God.3I am exhausted from crying for help; my throat is parched. My eyes are swollen with weeping, waiting for my God to help me.
Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore.4Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs on my head. Many enemies try to destroy me with lies, demanding that I give back what I didn’t steal.
O God, it is You who knows my folly, And my wrongs are not hidden from You.5O God, you know how foolish I am; my sins cannot be hidden from you.
May those who wait for You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; May those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,6Don’t let those who trust in you be ashamed because of me, O Sovereign LORD of Heaven’s Armies. Don’t let me cause them to be humiliated, O God of Israel.
Because for Your sake I have borne reproach; Dishonor has covered my face.7For I endure insults for your sake; humiliation is written all over my face.
I have become estranged from my brothers And an alien to my mother's sons.8Even my own brothers pretend they don’t know me; they treat me like a stranger.
For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.9Passion for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.
When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my reproach.10When I weep and fast, they scoff at me.
When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them.11When I dress in burlap to show sorrow, they make fun of me.
Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And I am the song of the drunkards.12I am the favorite topic of town gossip, and all the drunks sing about me.
But as for me, my prayer is to You, O LORD, at an acceptable time; O God, in the greatness of Your lovingkindness, Answer me with Your saving truth.13But I keep praying to you, LORD, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation.
Deliver me from the mire and do not let me sink; May I be delivered from my foes and from the deep waters.14Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters.
May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit shut its mouth on me.15Don’t let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me.
Answer me, O LORD, for Your lovingkindness is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me,16Answer my prayers, O LORD, for your unfailing love is wonderful. Take care of me, for your mercy is so plentiful.
And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly.17Don’t hide from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in deep trouble!
Oh draw near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies!18Come and redeem me; free me from my enemies.
You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor; All my adversaries are before You.19You know of my shame, scorn, and disgrace. You see all that my enemies are doing.
Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick. And I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.20Their insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. If only one person would show some pity; if only one would turn and comfort me.
They also gave me gall for my food And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.21But instead, they give me poison for food; they offer me sour wine for my thirst.
May their table before them become a snare; And when they are in peace, may it become a trap.22Let the bountiful table set before them become a snare and their prosperity become a trap.
May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their loins shake continually.23Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see, and make their bodies shake continually.
Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them.24Pour out your fury on them; consume them with your burning anger.
May their camp be desolate; May none dwell in their tents.25Let their homes become desolate and their tents be deserted.
For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself have smitten, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded.26To the one you have punished, they add insult to injury; they add to the pain of those you have hurt.
Add iniquity to their iniquity, And may they not come into Your righteousness.27Pile their sins up high, and don’t let them go free.
May they be blotted out of the book of life And may they not be recorded with the righteous.28Erase their names from the Book of Life; don’t let them be counted among the righteous.
But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, O God, set me securely on high.29I am suffering and in pain. Rescue me, O God, by your saving power.
I will praise the name of God with song And magnify Him with thanksgiving.30Then I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor him with thanksgiving.
And it will please the LORD better than an ox Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.31For this will please the LORD more than sacrificing cattle, more than presenting a bull with its horns and hooves.
The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive.32The humble will see their God at work and be glad. Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.
For the LORD hears the needy And does not despise His who are prisoners.33For the LORD hears the cries of the needy; he does not despise his imprisoned people.
Let heaven and earth praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them.34Praise him, O heaven and earth, the seas and all that move in them.
For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, That they may dwell there and possess it.35For God will save Jerusalem and rebuild the towns of Judah. His people will live there and settle in their own land.
The descendants of His servants will inherit it, And those who love His name will dwell in it.36The descendants of those who obey him will inherit the land, and those who love him will live there in safety.
