For the music director; according to the shushan-eduth style; a psalm of Asaph. O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor! 1For the choir director: according to "The Lilies." A testimony of Asaph. A psalm. Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; You who sit enthroned on the cherubim, rise up
In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us! 2before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally Your power and come to save us.
O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! 3Restore us, God; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you? 4 LORD God of Hosts, how long will You be angry with Your people's prayers?
You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure. 5You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure of tears to drink.
You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us. 6You make us quarrel with our neighbors; our enemies make fun of us.
O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! 7Restore us, God of Hosts; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it. 8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; You drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land. 9You cleared a place for it; it took root and filled the land.
The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches. 10The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.
Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River. 11It sent out sprouts toward the Sea and shoots toward the River.
Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit? 12Why have You broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its fruit?
The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it. 13The boar from the forest tears it and creatures of the field feed on it.
O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine, 14Return, God of Hosts. Look down from heaven and see; take care of this vine,
the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow! 15the root Your right hand has planted, the shoot that You made strong for Yourself.
It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them. 16It was cut down and burned up; they perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.
May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself! 17Let Your hand be with the man at Your right hand, with the son of man You have made strong for Yourself.
Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you! 18Then we will not turn away from You; revive us, and we will call on Your name.
O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered! 19Restore us, Yahweh, the God of Hosts; look on us with favor, and we will be saved.
