Written by David, when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, causing the king to send him away. I will praise the LORD at all times; my mouth will continually praise him. 1A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
I will boast in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice! 2My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
Magnify the LORD with me! Let's praise his name together! 3O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the LORD's help and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 4I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him for help are happy; their faces are not ashamed. 5They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
This oppressed man cried out and the LORD heard; he saved him from all his troubles. 6This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
The LORD's angel camps around the LORD's loyal followers and delivers them. 7The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him! 8O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
Remain loyal to the LORD, you chosen people of his, for his loyal followers lack nothing! 9O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Even young lions sometimes lack food and are hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. 10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the LORD. 11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
Do you want to really live? Would you love to live a long, happy life? 12What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
Then make sure you don't speak evil words or use deceptive speech! 13Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Turn away from evil and do what is right! Strive for peace and promote it! 14Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
The LORD pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help. 15The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
But the LORD opposes evildoers and wipes out all memory of them from the earth. 16The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
The godly cry out and the LORD hears; he saves them from all their troubles. 17The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near the brokenhearted; he delivers those who are discouraged. 18The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
The godly face many dangers, but the LORD saves them from each one of them. 19Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
He protects all his bones; not one of them is broken. 20He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
Evil people self-destruct; those who hate the godly are punished. 21Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
The LORD rescues his servants; all who take shelter in him escape punishment. 22The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
