NET Bible | King James Bible |
In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! | 1In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion. |
Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me! | 2Deliver me in thy righteousness, and cause me to escape: incline thine ear unto me, and save me. |
Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold. | 3Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress. |
My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor! | 4Deliver me, O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. |
For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young. | 5For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth. |
I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually. | 6By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee. |
Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter. | 7I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. |
I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long. | 8Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. |
Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me! | 9Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth. |
For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. | 10For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, |
They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!" | 11Saying, God hath forsaken him: persecute and take him; for there is none to deliver him. |
O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me! | 12O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help. |
May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace! | 13Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt. |
As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you. | 14But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more. |
I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent. | 15My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. |
I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone. | 16I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD: I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only. |
O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds. | 17O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. |
Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. | 18Now also when I am old and grayheaded, O God, forsake me not; until I have shewed thy strength unto this generation, and thy power to every one that is to come. |
Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you? | 19Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee! |
Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth! | 20Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth. |
Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me! | 21Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. |
I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel! | 22I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. |
My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me! | 23My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. |
All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed. | 24My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt. |
