| 1When humankind began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, | 1When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, |
| 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose. | 2the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. |
| 3So the LORD said, "My spirit will not remain in humankind indefinitely, since they are mortal. They will remain for 120 more years." | 3Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years." |
| 4The Nephilim were on the earth in those days (and also after this) when the sons of God were having sexual relations with the daughters of humankind, who gave birth to their children. | 5But the LORD saw that the wickedness of humankind had become great on the earth. | 20Of the birds after their kinds, and of the cattle after their kinds, and of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind will come to you so you can keep them alive. | 20Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. |
