The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron:1The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,
"When someone has a swelling or a scab or a bright spot on the skin of his body that may become a diseased infection, he must be brought to Aaron the priest or one of his sons, the priests.2"When anyone has a swelling or a rash or a shiny spot on their skin that may be a defiling skin disease, they must be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons who is a priest.
The priest must then examine the infection on the skin of the body, and if the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection appears to be deeper than the skin of the body, then it is a diseased infection, so when the priest examines it he must pronounce the person unclean. 3The priest is to examine the sore on the skin, and if the hair in the sore has turned white and the sore appears to be more than skin deep, it is a defiling skin disease. When the priest examines that person, he shall pronounce them ceremonially unclean.
"If it is a white bright spot on the skin of his body, but it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair has not turned white, then the priest is to quarantine the person with the infection for seven days.4If the shiny spot on the skin is white but does not appear to be more than skin deep and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest is to isolate the affected person for seven days.
The priest must then examine it on the seventh day, and if, as far as he can see, the infection has stayed the same and has not spread on the skin, then the priest is to quarantine the person for another seven days.5On the seventh day the priest is to examine them, and if he sees that the sore is unchanged and has not spread in the skin, he is to isolate them for another seven days.
The priest must then examine it again on the seventh day, and if the infection has faded and has not spread on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce the person clean. It is a scab, so he must wash his clothes and be clean.6On the seventh day the priest is to examine them again, and if the sore has faded and has not spread in the skin, the priest shall pronounce them clean; it is only a rash. They must wash their clothes, and they will be clean.
If, however, the scab is spreading further on the skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his purification, then he must show himself to the priest a second time.7But if the rash does spread in their skin after they have shown themselves to the priest to be pronounced clean, they must appear before the priest again.
The priest must then examine it, and if the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a disease. 8The priest is to examine that person, and if the rash has spread in the skin, he shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease.
"When someone has a diseased infection, he must be brought to the priest.9"When anyone has a defiling skin disease, they must be brought to the priest.
The priest will then examine it, and if a white swelling is on the skin, it has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling,10The priest is to examine them, and if there is a white swelling in the skin that has turned the hair white and if there is raw flesh in the swelling,
it is a chronic disease on the skin of his body, so the priest is to pronounce him unclean. The priest must not merely quarantine him, for he is unclean.11it is a chronic skin disease and the priest shall pronounce them unclean. He is not to isolate them, because they are already unclean.
If, however, the disease breaks out on the skin so that the disease covers all the skin of the person with the infection from his head to his feet, as far as the priest can see,12"If the disease breaks out all over their skin and, so far as the priest can see, it covers all the skin of the affected person from head to foot,
the priest must then examine it, and if the disease covers his whole body, he is to pronounce the person with the infection clean. He has turned all white, so he is clean.13the priest is to examine them, and if the disease has covered their whole body, he shall pronounce them clean. Since it has all turned white, they are clean.
But whenever raw flesh appears in it he will be unclean,14But whenever raw flesh appears on them, they will be unclean.
so the priest is to examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean--it is diseased.15When the priest sees the raw flesh, he shall pronounce them unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; they have a defiling disease.
If, however, the raw flesh once again turns white, then he must come to the priest.16If the raw flesh changes and turns white, they must go to the priest.
The priest will then examine it, and if the infection has turned white, the priest is to pronounce the person with the infection clean--he is clean. 17The priest is to examine them, and if the sores have turned white, the priest shall pronounce the affected person clean; then they will be clean.
"When someone's body has a boil on its skin and it heals,18"When someone has a boil on their skin and it heals,
and in the place of the boil there is a white swelling or a reddish white bright spot, he must show himself to the priest.19and in the place where the boil was, a white swelling or reddish-white spot appears, they must present themselves to the priest.
The priest will then examine it, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a diseased infection that has broken out in the boil.20The priest is to examine it, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it has turned white, the priest shall pronounce that person unclean. It is a defiling skin disease that has broken out where the boil was.
If, however, the priest examines it, and there is no white hair in it, it is not deeper than the skin, and it has faded, then the priest is to quarantine him for seven days.21But if, when the priest examines it, there is no white hair in it and it is not more than skin deep and has faded, then the priest is to isolate them for seven days.
If it is spreading further on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is an infection.22If it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling disease.
But if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread, it is the scar of the boil, so the priest is to pronounce him clean. 23But if the spot is unchanged and has not spread, it is only a scar from the boil, and the priest shall pronounce them clean.
"When a body has a burn on its skin and the raw area of the burn becomes a reddish white or white bright spot,24"When someone has a burn on their skin and a reddish-white or white spot appears in the raw flesh of the burn,
the priest must examine it, and if the hair has turned white in the bright spot and it appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a diseased infection.25the priest is to examine the spot, and if the hair in it has turned white, and it appears to be more than skin deep, it is a defiling disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease.
If, however, the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the bright spot, it is not deeper than the skin, and it has faded, then the priest is to quarantine him for seven days.26But if the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the spot and if it is not more than skin deep and has faded, then the priest is to isolate them for seven days.
The priest must then examine it on the seventh day, and if it is spreading further on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is a diseased infection.27On the seventh day the priest is to examine that person, and if it is spreading in the skin, the priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease.
But if the bright spot stays in its place, has not spread on the skin, and it has faded, then it is the swelling of the burn, so the priest is to pronounce him clean, because it is the scar of the burn. 28If, however, the spot is unchanged and has not spread in the skin but has faded, it is a swelling from the burn, and the priest shall pronounce them clean; it is only a scar from the burn.
"When a man or a woman has an infection on the head or in the beard,29"If a man or woman has a sore on their head or chin,
the priest is to examine the infection, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and the hair in it is reddish yellow and thin, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is scall, a disease of the head or the beard.30the priest is to examine the sore, and if it appears to be more than skin deep and the hair in it is yellow and thin, the priest shall pronounce them unclean; it is a defiling skin disease on the head or chin.
But if the priest examines the scall infection and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, then the priest is to quarantine the person with the scall infection for seven days.31But if, when the priest examines the sore, it does not seem to be more than skin deep and there is no black hair in it, then the priest is to isolate the affected person for seven days.
The priest must then examine the infection on the seventh day, and if the scall has not spread, there is no reddish yellow hair in it, and the scall does not appear to be deeper than the skin,32On the seventh day the priest is to examine the sore, and if it has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it and it does not appear to be more than skin deep,
then the individual is to shave himself, but he must not shave the area affected by the scall, and the priest is to quarantine the person with the scall for another seven days.33then the man or woman must shave themselves, except for the affected area, and the priest is to keep them isolated another seven days.
The priest must then examine the scall on the seventh day, and if the scall has not spread on the skin and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him clean. So he is to wash his clothes and be clean.34On the seventh day the priest is to examine the sore, and if it has not spread in the skin and appears to be no more than skin deep, the priest shall pronounce them clean. They must wash their clothes, and they will be clean.
If, however, the scall spreads further on the skin after his purification,35But if the sore does spread in the skin after they are pronounced clean,
then the priest is to examine it, and if the scall has spread on the skin the priest is not to search further for reddish yellow hair. The person is unclean.36the priest is to examine them, and if he finds that the sore has spread in the skin, he does not need to look for yellow hair; they are unclean.
If, as far as the priest can see, the scall has stayed the same and black hair has sprouted in it, the scall has been healed; the person is clean. So the priest is to pronounce him clean. 37If, however, the sore is unchanged so far as the priest can see, and if black hair has grown in it, the affected person is healed. They are clean, and the priest shall pronounce them clean.
"When a man or a woman has bright spots--white bright spots--on the skin of their body,38"When a man or woman has white spots on the skin,
the priest is to examine them, and if the bright spots on the skin of their body are faded white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin. The person is clean. 39the priest is to examine them, and if the spots are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin; they are clean.
"When a man's head is bare so that he is balding in back, he is clean.40"A man who has lost his hair and is bald is clean.
If his head is bare on the forehead so that he is balding in front, he is clean.41If he has lost his hair from the front of his scalp and has a bald forehead, he is clean.
But if there is a reddish white infection in the back or front bald area, it is a disease breaking out in his back or front bald area.42But if he has a reddish-white sore on his bald head or forehead, it is a defiling disease breaking out on his head or forehead.
The priest is to examine it, and if the swelling of the infection is reddish white in the back or front bald area like the appearance of a disease on the skin of the body,43The priest is to examine him, and if the swollen sore on his head or forehead is reddish-white like a defiling skin disease,
he is a diseased man. He is unclean. The priest must surely pronounce him unclean because of his infection on his head. 44the man is diseased and is unclean. The priest shall pronounce him unclean because of the sore on his head.
"As for the diseased person who has the infection, his clothes must be torn, the hair of his head must be unbound, he must cover his mustache, and he must call out 'Unclean! Unclean!'45"Anyone with such a defiling disease must wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of their face and cry out, 'Unclean! Unclean!'
The whole time he has the infection he will be continually unclean. He must live in isolation, and his place of residence must be outside the camp. 46As long as they have the disease they remain unclean. They must live alone; they must live outside the camp.
"When a garment has a diseased infection in it, whether a wool or linen garment,47"As for any fabric that is spoiled with a defiling mold--any woolen or linen clothing,
or in the warp or woof of the linen or the wool, or in leather or anything made of leather,48any woven or knitted material of linen or wool, any leather or anything made of leather--
if the infection in the garment or leather or warp or woof or any article of leather is yellowish green or reddish, it is a diseased infection and it must be shown to the priest.49if the affected area in the fabric, the leather, the woven or knitted material, or any leather article, is greenish or reddish, it is a defiling mold and must be shown to the priest.
The priest is to examine and then quarantine the article with the infection for seven days.50The priest is to examine the affected area and isolate the article for seven days.
He must then examine the infection on the seventh day. If the infection has spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in the leather--whatever the article into which the leather was made--the infection is a malignant disease. It is unclean.51On the seventh day he is to examine it, and if the mold has spread in the fabric, the woven or knitted material, or the leather, whatever its use, it is a persistent defiling mold; the article is unclean.
He must burn the garment or the warp or the woof, whether wool or linen, or any article of leather which has the infection in it. Because it is a malignant disease it must be burned up in the fire.52He must burn the fabric, the woven or knitted material of wool or linen, or any leather article that has been spoiled; because the defiling mold is persistent, the article must be burned.
But if the priest examines it and the infection has not spread in the garment or in the warp or in the woof or in any article of leather,53"But if, when the priest examines it, the mold has not spread in the fabric, the woven or knitted material, or the leather article,
the priest is to command that they wash whatever has the infection and quarantine it for another seven days.54he shall order that the spoiled article be washed. Then he is to isolate it for another seven days.
The priest must then examine it after the infection has been washed out, and if the infection has not changed its appearance even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it up in the fire. It is a fungus, whether on the back side or front side of the article.55After the article has been washed, the priest is to examine it again, and if the mold has not changed its appearance, even though it has not spread, it is unclean. Burn it, no matter which side of the fabric has been spoiled.
But if the priest has examined it and the infection has faded after it has been washed, he is to tear it out of the garment or the leather or the warp or the woof.56If, when the priest examines it, the mold has faded after the article has been washed, he is to tear the spoiled part out of the fabric, the leather, or the woven or knitted material.
Then if it still appears again in the garment or the warp or the woof, or in any article of leather, it is an outbreak. Whatever has the infection in it you must burn up in the fire.57But if it reappears in the fabric, in the woven or knitted material, or in the leather article, it is a spreading mold; whatever has the mold must be burned.
But the garment or the warp or the woof or any article of leather which you wash and infection disappears from it is to be washed a second time and it will be clean." 58Any fabric, woven or knitted material, or any leather article that has been washed and is rid of the mold, must be washed again. Then it will be clean."
This is the law of the diseased infection in the garment of wool or linen, or the warp or woof, or any article of leather, for pronouncing it clean or unclean. 59These are the regulations concerning defiling molds in woolen or linen clothing, woven or knitted material, or any leather article, for pronouncing them clean or unclean.
