Romans 12
NIV Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New International VersionEnglish Standard Version
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship.1I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.3For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.
For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,4For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.5so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith;6Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith;
if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;7if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching;
if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.8the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.9Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.10Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.11Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.12Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.13Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.
Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.17Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.18If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.19Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."20To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
