| 1The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. | 1Then the LORD said to Noah, "Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time. |
| 2Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, | 2"You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; |
| 3and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. | 3also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth. |
| 4Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." | 4"For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made." |
| 5And Noah did all that the LORD commanded him. | 5Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him. |
| 6Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. | 6Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth. |
| 7And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. | 7Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood. |
| 8Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, | 8Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, |
| 9male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. | 9there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. |
| 10And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth. | 10It came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth. |
| 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month--on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. | 11In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. |

| 14They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. | 14they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds. |
| 15Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. | 15So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. |
| 16The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in. | 16Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the LORD closed it behind him. |
| 17For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. | 17Then the flood came upon the earth for forty days, and the water increased and lifted up the ark, so that it rose above the earth. |
| 18The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. | 18The water prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. |
| 19They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. | 19The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains everywhere under the heavens were covered. |
| 20The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits. | 20The water prevailed fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered. |
| 21Every living thing that moved on land perished--birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. | 21All flesh that moved on the earth perished, birds and cattle and beasts and every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind; |
| 22Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. | 22of all that was on the dry land, all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died. |
| 23Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark. | 23Thus He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky, and they were blotted out from the earth; and only Noah was left, together with those that were with him in the ark. |
| 24The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days. | 24The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days. |
