A psalm of David. I call to you, LORD, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you. | 1A Psalm of David. O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! |
May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. | 2May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering. |
Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips. | 3Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. |
Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. | 4Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. |
Let a righteous man strike me--that is a kindness; let him rebuke me--that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers. | 5Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds. |
Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. | 6Their judges are thrown down by the sides of the rock, And they hear my words, for they are pleasant. |
They will say, "As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave." | 7As when one plows and breaks open the earth, Our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol. |
But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign LORD; in you I take refuge--do not give me over to death. | 8For my eyes are toward You, O GOD, the Lord; In You I take refuge; do not leave me defenseless. |
Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me. | 9Keep me from the jaws of the trap which they have set for me, And from the snares of those who do iniquity. |
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety. | 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I pass by safely. |
