Psalm 71
NIV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionNew Living Translation
In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame.1O LORD, I have come to you for protection; don’t let me be disgraced.
In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me.2Save me and rescue me, for you do what is right. Turn your ear to listen to me, and set me free.
Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.3Be my rock of safety where I can always hide. Give the order to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.
Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.4My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the clutches of cruel oppressors.
For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.5O Lord, you alone are my hope. I’ve trusted you, O LORD, from childhood.
From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you.6Yes, you have been with me from birth; from my mother’s womb you have cared for me. No wonder I am always praising you!
I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge.7My life is an example to many, because you have been my strength and protection.
My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.8That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long.
Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.9And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing.
For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together.10For my enemies are whispering against me. They are plotting together to kill me.
They say, "God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him."11They say, “God has abandoned him. Let’s go and get him, for no one will help him now.”
Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me.12O God, don’t stay away. My God, please hurry to help me.
May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace.13Bring disgrace and destruction on my accusers. Humiliate and shame those who want to harm me.
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.14But I will keep on hoping for your help; I will praise you more and more.
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long-- though I know not how to relate them all.15I will tell everyone about your righteousness. All day long I will proclaim your saving power, though I am not skilled with words.
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.16I will praise your mighty deeds, O Sovereign LORD. I will tell everyone that you alone are just.
Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.17O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do.
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.18Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?19Your righteousness, O God, reaches to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Who can compare with you, O God?
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up.20You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth.
You will increase my honor and comfort me once more.21You will restore me to even greater honor and comfort me once again.
I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel.22Then I will praise you with music on the harp, because you are faithful to your promises, O my God. I will sing praises to you with a lyre, O Holy One of Israel.
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you-- I whom you have delivered.23I will shout for joy and sing your praises, for you have ransomed me.
My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion.24I will tell about your righteous deeds all day long, for everyone who tried to hurt me has been shamed and humiliated.
