New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You. | 1A Psalm of David. I call upon You, O LORD; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to You. |
Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. | 2May my prayer be set before You like incense, my uplifted hands like the evening offering. |
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. | 3Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips. |
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies. | 4Do not let my heart be drawn to any evil thing or take part in works of wickedness with men who do iniquity; let me not feast on their delicacies. |
Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked. | 5Let the righteous man strike me; let his rebuke be an act of loving devotion. It is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. For my prayer is ever against the deeds of the wicked. |
Their judges are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, And they hear my words, for they are sweet. | 6When their rulers are thrown down from the cliffs, the people will listen to my words, for they are pleasant. |
Our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, As when one plows and breaks up the earth. | 7As when one plows and breaks up the soil, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol. |
But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute. | 8But my eyes are fixed on You, O GOD the Lord. In You I seek refuge; do not leave my soul defenseless. |
Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity. | 9Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, and from the lures of evildoers. |
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely. | 10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety. |
