New King James VersionHolman Christian Standard Bible
A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.1A Davidic psalm. LORD, I call on You; hurry to help me. Listen to my voice when I call on You.
Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.2May my prayer be set before You as incense, the raising of my hands as the evening offering.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.3 LORD, set up a guard for my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.4Do not let my heart turn to any evil thing or perform wicked acts with men who commit sin. Do not let me feast on their delicacies.
Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked.5Let the righteous one strike me-- it is an act of faithful love; let him rebuke me-- it is oil for my head; let me not refuse it. Even now my prayer is against the evil acts of the wicked.
Their judges are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, And they hear my words, for they are sweet.6When their rulers will be thrown off the sides of a cliff, the people will listen to my words, for they are pleasing.
Our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, As when one plows and breaks up the earth.7As when one plows and breaks up the soil, turning up rocks, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of Sheol.
But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute.8But my eyes look to You, Lord GOD. I seek refuge in You; do not let me die.
Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity.9Protect me from the trap they have set for me, and from the snares of evildoers.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely.10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.
