A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry out to You; Make haste to me! Give ear to my voice when I cry out to You.1A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
Let my prayer be set before You as incense, The lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.2Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.3Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice wicked works With men who work iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.4Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practise wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties.
Let the righteous strike me; It shall be a kindness. And let him rebuke me; It shall be as excellent oil; Let my head not refuse it. For still my prayer is against the deeds of the wicked.5Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer also shall be in their calamities.
Their judges are overthrown by the sides of the cliff, And they hear my words, for they are sweet.6When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet.
Our bones are scattered at the mouth of the grave, As when one plows and breaks up the earth.7Our bones are scattered at the grave's mouth, as when one cutteth and cleaveth wood upon the earth.
But my eyes are upon You, O GOD the Lord; In You I take refuge; Do not leave my soul destitute.8But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust; leave not my soul destitute.
Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, And from the traps of the workers of iniquity.9Keep me from the snares which they have laid for me, and the gins of the workers of iniquity.
Let the wicked fall into their own nets, While I escape safely.10Let the wicked fall into their own nets, whilst that I withal escape.
