To the Chief Musician. Set to “The Lilies.” A Testimony of Asaph. A Psalm. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth!1To the chief Musician upon ShoshannimEduth, A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.
Before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, Stir up Your strength, And come and save us!2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.
Restore us, O God; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!3Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
O LORD God of hosts, How long will You be angry Against the prayer of Your people?4O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
You have fed them with the bread of tears, And given them tears to drink in great measure.5Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
You have made us a strife to our neighbors, And our enemies laugh among themselves.6Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
Restore us, O God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!7Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations, and planted it.8Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it.
You prepared room for it, And caused it to take deep root, And it filled the land.9Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land.
The hills were covered with its shadow, And the mighty cedars with its boughs.10The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars.
She sent out her boughs to the Sea, And her branches to the River.11She sent out her boughs unto the sea, and her branches unto the river.
Why have You broken down her hedges, So that all who pass by the way pluck her fruit?12Why hast thou then broken down her hedges, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?
The boar out of the woods uproots it, And the wild beast of the field devours it.13The boar out of the wood doth waste it, and the wild beast of the field doth devour it.
Return, we beseech You, O God of hosts; Look down from heaven and see, And visit this vine14Return, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine;
And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself.15And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance.16It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself.17Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.18So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!19Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.
