New King James VersionNew International Version
God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,1In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.4So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
For to which of the angels did He ever say: “You are My Son, Today I have begotten You”? And again: “I will be to Him a Father, And He shall be to Me a Son”?5For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father"? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"?
But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him.”6And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him."
And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.”7In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels spirits, and his servants flames of fire."
But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.8But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”9You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."
And: “You, LORD, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, And the heavens are the work of Your hands.10He also says, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but You remain; And they will all grow old like a garment;11They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment.
Like a cloak You will fold them up, And they will be changed. But You are the same, And Your years will not fail.”12You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end."
But to which of the angels has He ever said: “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool”?13To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet"?
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?14Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
