Psalm 83
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph. Do not keep silent, O God! Do not hold Your peace, And do not be still, O God!1A song. A psalm of Asaph. O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.
For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head.2See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads.
They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.3With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish.
They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”4"Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more."
For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You:5With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you--
The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites;6the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites,
Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;7Byblos, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. Selah8Even Assyria has joined them to reinforce Lot's descendants.
Deal with them as with Midian, As with Sisera, As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon,9Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
Who perished at En Dor, Who became as refuse on the earth.10who perished at Endor and became like dung on the ground.
Make their nobles like Oreb and like Zeeb, Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Who said, “Let us take for ourselves The pastures of God for a possession.”12who said, "Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God."
O my God, make them like the whirling dust, Like the chaff before the wind!13Make them like tumbleweed, my God, like chaff before the wind.
As the fire burns the woods, And as the flame sets the mountains on fire,14As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
So pursue them with Your tempest, And frighten them with Your storm.15so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm.
Fill their faces with shame, That they may seek Your name, O LORD.16Cover their faces with shame, LORD, so that they will seek your name.
Let them be confounded and dismayed forever; Yes, let them be put to shame and perish,17May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace.
That they may know that You, whose name alone is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.18Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD-- that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
