A Psalm of David when he pretended madness before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. | 1I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. |
My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. | 2I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. |
Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. | 3Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. |
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. | 4I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. |
They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. | 5Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. |
This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. | 6In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles. |
The angel of the LORD encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them. | 7For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. |
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! | 8Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! |
Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. | 9Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. |
The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing. | 10Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. |
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. | 11Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD. |
Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? | 12Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? |
Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. | 13Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! |
Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. | 14Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. |
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. | 15The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. |
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. | 16But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. |
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. | 17The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. |
The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. | 18The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. |
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all. | 19The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. |
He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken. | 20For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! |
Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. | 21Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. |
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned. | 22But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. |
