Psalm 60
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
To the Chief Musician. Set to “Lily of the Testimony.” A Michtam of David. For teaching. When he fought against Mesopotamia and Syria of Zobah, and Joab returned and killed twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. O God, You have cast us off; You have broken us down; You have been displeased; Oh, restore us again!1You have rejected us, O God, and broken our defenses. You have been angry with us; now restore us to your favor.
You have made the earth tremble; You have broken it; Heal its breaches, for it is shaking.2You have shaken our land and split it open. Seal the cracks, for the land trembles.
You have shown Your people hard things; You have made us drink the wine of confusion.3You have been very hard on us, making us drink wine that sent us reeling.
You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah4But you have raised a banner for those who fear you— a rallying point in the face of attack. Interlude
That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and hear me.5Now rescue your beloved people. Answer and save us by your power.
God has spoken in His holiness: “I will rejoice; I will divide Shechem And measure out the Valley of Succoth.6God has promised this by his holiness : “I will divide up Shechem with joy. I will measure out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the helmet for My head; Judah is My lawgiver.7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh, too. Ephraim, my helmet, will produce my warriors, and Judah, my scepter, will produce my kings.
Moab is My washpot; Over Edom I will cast My shoe; Philistia, shout in triumph because of Me.”8But Moab, my washbasin, will become my servant, and I will wipe my feet on Edom and shout in triumph over Philistia.”
Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will lead me to Edom?9Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will bring me victory over Edom?
Is it not You, O God, who cast us off? And You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?10Have you rejected us, O God? Will you no longer march with our armies?
Give us help from trouble, For the help of man is useless.11Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless.
Through God we will do valiantly, For it is He who shall tread down our enemies.12With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes.
