Psalm 66
New Living TranslationChristian Standard Bible
Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth!1Let the whole earth shout joyfully to God!
Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is.2Sing about the glory of his name; make his praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power.3Say to God, "How awe-inspiring are your works! Your enemies will cringe before you because of your great strength.
Everything on earth will worship you; they will sing your praises, shouting your name in glorious songs.” Interlude4The whole earth will worship you and sing praise to you. They will sing praise to your name." Selah
Come and see what our God has done, what awesome miracles he performs for people!5Come and see the wonders of God; his acts for humanity are awe-inspiring.
He made a dry path through the Red Sea, and his people went across on foot. There we rejoiced in him.6He turned the sea into dry land, and they crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced in him.
For by his great power he rules forever. He watches every movement of the nations; let no rebel rise in defiance. Interlude7He rules forever by his might; he keeps his eye on the nations. The rebellious should not exalt themselves. Selah
Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises.8Bless our God, you peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard.
Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling.9He keeps us alive and does not allow our feet to slip.
You have tested us, O God; you have purified us like silver.10For you, God, tested us; you refined us as silver is refined.
You captured us in your net and laid the burden of slavery on our backs.11You lured us into a trap; you placed burdens on our backs.
Then you put a leader over us. We went through fire and flood, but you brought us to a place of great abundance.12You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, but you brought us out to abundance.
Now I come to your Temple with burnt offerings to fulfill the vows I made to you—13I will enter your house with burnt offerings; I will pay you my vows
yes, the sacred vows that I made when I was in deep trouble.14that my lips promised and my mouth spoke during my distress.
That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you— the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma, and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats. Interlude15I will offer you fattened sheep as burnt offerings, with the fragrant smoke of rams; I will sacrifice bulls with goats. Selah
Come and listen, all you who fear God, and I will tell you what he did for me.16Come and listen, all who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for me.
For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke.17I cried out to him with my mouth, and praise was on my tongue.
If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.18If I had been aware of malice in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer.19However, God has listened; he has paid attention to the sound of my prayer.
Praise God, who did not ignore my prayer or withdraw his unfailing love from me.20Blessed be God! He has not turned away my prayer or turned his faithful love from me.
