New Living Translation | English Standard Version |
Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. | 1Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! |
Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. | 2Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! |
For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. | 3For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. |
He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. | 4In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. |
The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. | 5The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. |
Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the LORD our maker, | 6Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! |
for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care. If only you would listen to his voice today! | 7For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, |
The LORD says, “Don’t harden your hearts as Israel did at Meribah, as they did at Massah in the wilderness. | 8do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, |
For there your ancestors tested and tried my patience, even though they saw everything I did. | 9when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. |
For forty years I was angry with them, and I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts turn away from me. They refuse to do what I tell them.’ | 10For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” |
So in my anger I took an oath: ‘They will never enter my place of rest.’” | 11Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.” |
