New Living Translation | Holman Christian Standard Bible |
The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies, making them a footstool under your feet.” | 1A Davidic psalm. This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:" Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool." |
The LORD will extend your powerful kingdom from Jerusalem ; you will rule over your enemies. | 2The LORD will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over Your surrounding enemies. |
When you go to war, your people will serve you willingly. You are arrayed in holy garments, and your strength will be renewed each day like the morning dew. | 3Your people will volunteer on Your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of Your youth belongs to You. |
The LORD has taken an oath and will not break his vow: “You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.” | 4The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back:" Forever, You are a priest like Melchizedek." |
The Lord stands at your right hand to protect you. He will strike down many kings when his anger erupts. | 5The Lord is at Your right hand; He will crush kings on the day of His anger. |
He will punish the nations and fill their lands with corpses; he will shatter heads over the whole earth. | 6He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; He will crush leaders over the entire world. |
But he himself will be refreshed from brooks along the way. He will be victorious. | 7He will drink from the brook by the road; therefore, He will lift up His head. |
