| 1God is honored in Judah; his name is great in Israel. | 1For the choir director: with stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song. God is known in Judah; His name is great in Israel. |
| 2Jerusalem is where he lives; Mount Zion is his home. | 2His tent is in Salem, His dwelling place in Zion. |
| 3There he has broken the fiery arrows of the enemy, the shields and swords and weapons of war. Interlude | 3There He shatters the bow's flaming arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah |
| 4You are glorious and more majestic than the everlasting mountains. | 4You are resplendent and majestic coming down from the mountains of prey. |
| 5Our boldest enemies have been plundered. They lie before us in the sleep of death. No warrior could lift a hand against us. | 5The brave-hearted have been plundered; they have slipped into their final sleep. None of the warriors was able to lift a hand. |
| 6At the blast of your breath, O God of Jacob, their horses and chariots lay still. | 6At Your rebuke, God of Jacob, both chariot and horse lay still. |
| 7No wonder you are greatly feared! Who can stand before you when your anger explodes? | 7And You--You are to be feared. When You are angry, who can stand before You? |
| 8From heaven you sentenced your enemies; the earth trembled and stood silent before you. | 8From heaven You pronounced judgment. The earth feared and grew quiet |
| 9You stand up to judge those who do evil, O God, and to rescue the oppressed of the earth. Interlude | 9when God rose up to judge and to save all the lowly of the earth. Selah |
| 10Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon. | 10Even human wrath will praise You; You will clothe Yourself with their remaining wrath. |
| 11Make vows to the LORD your God, and keep them. Let everyone bring tribute to the Awesome One. | 11Make and keep your vows to the LORD your God; let all who are around Him bring tribute to the awe-inspiring One. |
| 12For he breaks the pride of princes, and the kings of the earth fear him. | 12He humbles the spirit of leaders; He is feared by the kings of the earth. |
