Galatians 1

This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead.1Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)
All the brothers and sisters here join me in sending this letter to the churches of Galatia.2And all the brethren which are with me, unto the churches of Galatia:
May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.3Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.4Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:
All glory to God forever and ever! Amen. There Is Only One Good News5To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News6I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.7Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.8But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.9As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. Paul’s Message Comes from Christ10For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning.11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I violently persecuted God’s church. I did my best to destroy it.13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
I was far ahead of my fellow Jews in my zeal for the traditions of my ancestors.14And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
But even before I was born, God chose me and called me by his marvelous grace. Then it pleased him15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
to reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being.16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Nor did I go up to Jerusalem to consult with those who were apostles before I was. Instead, I went away into Arabia, and later I returned to the city of Damascus.17Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.
Then three years later I went to Jerusalem to get to know Peter, and I stayed with him for fifteen days.18Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days.
The only other apostle I met at that time was James, the Lord’s brother.19But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother.
I declare before God that what I am writing to you is not a lie.20Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
After that visit I went north into the provinces of Syria and Cilicia.21Afterwards I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia;
And still the churches in Christ that are in Judea didn’t know me personally.22And was unknown by face unto the churches of Judaea which were in Christ:
All they knew was that people were saying, “The one who used to persecute us is now preaching the very faith he tried to destroy!”23But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
And they praised God because of me.24And they glorified God in me.
