New Living Translation | King James Bible |
I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. | 1A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. |
I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. | 2My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. |
Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. | 3O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. |
I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. | 4I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. |
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. | 5They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. |
In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles. | 6This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. |
For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. | 7The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. |
Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! | 8O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. |
Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. | 9O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. |
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. | 10The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. |
Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD. | 11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD. |
Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? | 12What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? |
Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! | 13Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. |
Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. | 14Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. |
The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. | 15The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. |
But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. | 16The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. |
The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. | 17The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. |
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. | 18The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. |
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. | 19Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. |
For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! | 20He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken. |
Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. | 21Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. |
But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | 22The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. |
