Psalm 72
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king’s son.1A Psalm for Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king's son.
Help him judge your people in the right way; let the poor always be treated fairly.2He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
May the mountains yield prosperity for all, and may the hills be fruitful.3The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.
Help him to defend the poor, to rescue the children of the needy, and to crush their oppressors.4He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
May they fear you as long as the sun shines, as long as the moon remains in the sky. Yes, forever!5They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
May the king’s rule be refreshing like spring rain on freshly cut grass, like the showers that water the earth.6He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
May all the godly flourish during his reign. May there be abundant prosperity until the moon is no more.7In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
May he reign from sea to sea, and from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.8He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
Desert nomads will bow before him; his enemies will fall before him in the dust.9They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.
The western kings of Tarshish and other distant lands will bring him tribute. The eastern kings of Sheba and Seba will bring him gifts.10The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
All kings will bow before him, and all nations will serve him.11Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them.12For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them.13He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him.14He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
Long live the king! May the gold of Sheba be given to him. May the people always pray for him and bless him all day long.15And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
May there be abundant grain throughout the land, flourishing even on the hilltops. May the fruit trees flourish like the trees of Lebanon, and may the people thrive like grass in a field.16There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
May the king’s name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun shines. May all nations be blessed through him and bring him praise.17His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
Praise the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does such wonderful things.18Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
Praise his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen!19And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
(This ends the prayers of David son of Jesse.)20The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.
