NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified.1O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.1You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?1You foolish Galatians! Who has hypnotized you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was vividly portrayed as crucified?
2I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?2Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith?2This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?2I only want to learn this from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?
3Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?3Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?3Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh?3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?3Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now going to be made complete by the flesh?
4Have you experienced so much in vain--if it really was in vain?4Did you suffer so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?4Did you suffer so many things in vain-- if indeed it was in vain?4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.4Did you suffer so much for nothing--if in fact it was for nothing?

5So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?5Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith—5So then, does He who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith?5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?5So then, does God supply you with the Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law or by hearing with faith?
6So also Abraham "believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness."6just as Abraham “believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”?6Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.6Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness,
7Understand, then, that those who have faith are children of Abraham.7Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham.7Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham.7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.7then understand that those who have faith are Abraham's sons.
8Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you."8And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.”8The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU."8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.8Now the Scripture saw in advance that God would justify the Gentiles by faith and told the good news ahead of time to Abraham, saying, All the nations will be blessed through you.
9So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.9So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.9So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.9So those who have faith are blessed with Abraham, who had faith.

Christ Redeemed Us

(Deuteronomy 21:22-23)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
10For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law."10For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.”10For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM."10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.10For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written: Everyone who does not continue doing everything written in the book of the law is cursed.
11Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because "the righteous will live by faith."11Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”11Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.11Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith.
12The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, "The person who does these things will live by them."12But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.”12However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary, "HE WHO PRACTICES THEM SHALL LIVE BY THEM."12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.12But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.
13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole."13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "--13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:13Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, because it is written: Everyone who is hung on a tree is cursed.
14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.14so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.14in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.14The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.

The Purpose of the Law

(Romans 7:1-6)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
15Brothers and sisters, let me take an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or add to a human covenant that has been duly established, so it is in this case.15To give a human example, brothers: even with a man-made covenant, no one annuls it or adds to it once it has been ratified.15Brethren, I speak in terms of human relations: even though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it.15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.15Brothers, I'm using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to even a human covenant that has been ratified.
16The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.16Now the promises were made to Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, “And to your offspring,” who is Christ.16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say, "And to seeds," as referring to many, but rather to one, "And to your seed," that is, Christ.16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.16Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. He does not say "and to seeds," as though referring to many, but referring to one, and to your seed, who is Christ.
17What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.17This is what I mean: the law, which came 430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to make the promise void.17What I am saying is this: the Law, which came four hundred and thirty years later, does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.17And I say this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not revoke a covenant that was previously ratified by God and cancel the promise.
18For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.18For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but God gave it to Abraham by a promise.18For if the inheritance is based on law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise.18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.18For if the inheritance is from the law, it is no longer from the promise; but God granted it to Abraham through the promise.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
19Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator.19Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in place through angels by an intermediary.19Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.19Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise was made would come. The law was put into effect through angels by means of a mediator.
20A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one.20Now an intermediary implies more than one, but God is one.20Now a mediator is not for one party only; whereas God is only one.20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.20Now a mediator is not for just one person, but God is one.
21Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.21Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For if a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.21Is the Law then contrary to the promises of God? May it never be! For if a law had been given which was able to impart life, then righteousness would indeed have been based on law.21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.21Is the law therefore contrary to God's promises? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly be by the law.
22But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.22But the Scripture imprisoned everything under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.22But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.22But the Scripture has imprisoned everything under sin's power, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
23Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.23Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed.23But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed.23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.23Before this faith came, we were confined under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith was revealed.
NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
24So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith.24So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.24Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.24The law, then, was our guardian until Christ, so that we could be justified by faith.
25Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,25But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.25But since that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian,

Sons Through Faith in Christ

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
26So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith,26for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.26For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.26for you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
27for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.27For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.27For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ like a garment.
28There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.28There is no Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.29And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to promise.29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's descendants, heirs according to promise.29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, heirs according to the promise.
