This is the word
that
Jeremiah
the prophet
spoke
to
Baruch
son
of Neriah
when he wrote
these
words
on
a scroll
at the dictation
of Jeremiah
in the fourth
year
of Jehoiakim
son
of Josiah,
king
of Judah:
The word
that Jeremiah
the prophet
spake
unto Baruch
the son
of Neriah,
when he had written
these words
in a book
at the mouth
of Jeremiah,
in the fourth
year
of Jehoiakim
the son
of Josiah
king
of Judah,
saying,
2
כֹּֽה־

אֱלֹהֵ֣י
יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל
עָלֶ֖יךָ
בָּרֽוּךְ׃
“This is what
the LORD,
the God
of Israel,
says
to you,
Baruch:
Thus saith
the LORD,
the God
of Israel,
unto thee, O Baruch;

You have said,
‘Woe is
me
because
the LORD
has added
sorrow
to
my pain!
I am worn out
with groaning
and have found
no
rest.’ ”
Thou didst say,
Woe
is me now! for the LORD
hath added
grief
to my sorrow;
I fainted
in my sighing,
and I find
no rest.
4
כֹּ֣ה ׀
תֹּאמַ֣ר
אֵלָ֗יו
כֹּ֚ה

Thus
Jeremiah was to say
to Baruch:
“This is what
the LORD
says:
Throughout
the land
I
will demolish
what
I have built
and uproot
what
I have planted.
Thus shalt thou say
unto him, The LORD
saith
thus; Behold, [that] which I have built
will I break down,
and that which I have planted
I will pluck up,
even this whole land.

But as for you,
do you seek
great things
for yourself?
Stop
seeking!
For
I will bring
disaster
on
every
living creature,
declares
the LORD,
but wherever
you go,
I will grant
your life
as a spoil of war.”
And seekest
thou great things
for thyself? seek
[them] not: for, behold, I will bring
evil
upon all flesh,
saith
the LORD:
but thy life
will I give
unto thee for a prey
in all places
whither thou goest.
