(Numbers 36:1-13) | 1The daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Makir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. The names of the daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah and Tirzah. They came forward | 1Then drew near the daughters of Zelophehad the son of Hepher, son of Gilead, son of Machir, son of Manasseh, from the clans of Manasseh the son of Joseph. | 7"What Zelophehad's daughters are saying is right. You must certainly give them property as an inheritance among their father's relatives and give their father's inheritance to them. | 7“The daughters of Zelophehad are right. You shall give them possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer the inheritance of their father to them. | 7"The daughters of Zelophehad are right in their statements. You shall surely give them a hereditary possession among their father's brothers, and you shall transfer the inheritance of their father to them. | 7The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them. | 7What Zelophehad's daughters say is correct. You are to give them hereditary property among their father's brothers and transfer their father's inheritance to them. |
| 8"Say to the Israelites, 'If a man dies and leaves no son, give his inheritance to his daughter. | 8And you shall speak to the people of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. | 8"Further, you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If a man dies and has no son, then you shall transfer his inheritance to his daughter. | 8And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter. | 8Tell the Israelites: When a man dies without having a son, transfer his inheritance to his daughter. |

This is to have the force of law for the Israelites, as the LORD commanded Moses.'" | 11And if his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to the nearest kinsman of his clan, and he shall possess it. And it shall be for the people of Israel a statute and rule, as the LORD commanded Moses.’” | 11'If his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his nearest relative in his own family, and he shall possess it; and it shall be a statutory ordinance to the sons of Israel, just as the LORD commanded Moses.'" | 11And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses. | 11If his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the nearest relative of his clan, and he will take possession of it. Moses Asks for a Successor
(Deuteronomy 3:23-29) | 12Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites. | 12The LORD said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim and see the land that I have given to the people of Israel. | 12Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go up to this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the sons of Israel. | 12And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. | 12Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites. |
| 13After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, | 13When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was, | 13"When you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was; | 13And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. | 13After you have seen it, you will also be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was. |
| 14for when the community rebelled at the waters in the Desert of Zin, both of you disobeyed my command to honor me as holy before their eyes." (These were the waters of Meribah Kadesh, in the Desert of Zin.) | 14because you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin when the congregation quarreled, failing to uphold me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.) | 14for in the wilderness of Zin, during the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against My command to treat Me as holy before their eyes at the water." Joshua to Succeed Moses
(Deuteronomy 31:7-8) | 18So the LORD said to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit of leadership, and lay your hand on him. | 18So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him. | 18So the LORD said to Moses, "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him; | 18And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him; | 18The LORD replied to Moses, "Take Joshua son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him. |
| 19Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. | 19Make him stand before Eleazar the priest and all the congregation, and you shall commission him in their sight. | 19and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and commission him in their sight. | 19And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight. | 19Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole community, and commission him in their sight. |

| 21He is to stand before Eleazar the priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of the Urim before the LORD. At his command he and the entire community of the Israelites will go out, and at his command they will come in." | 21And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the people of Israel with him, the whole congregation.” | 21"Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before the LORD.
