2When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. | 2When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. | 2When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. | 2When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. | 2When evildoers came against me to devour my flesh, my foes and my enemies stumbled and fell. |
3Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. | 3Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. | 3Though a host encamp against me, My heart will not fear; Though war arise against me, In spite of this I shall be confident. | 3Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. | 3Though an army deploys against me, my heart is not afraid; though a war breaks out against me, still I am confident. |
4One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. | 4One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. | 4One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD And to meditate in His temple. | 4One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple. | 4I have asked one thing from the LORD; it is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, gazing on the beauty of the LORD and seeking Him in His temple. |
5For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. | 5For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. | 5For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; In the secret place of His tent He will hide me; He will lift me up on a rock. | 5For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. | 5For He will conceal me in His shelter in the day of adversity; He will hide me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high on a rock. |
6Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. | 6And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD. | 6And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me, And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. | 6And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD. | 6Then my head will be high above my enemies around me; I will offer sacrifices in His tent with shouts of joy. I will sing and make music to the LORD. |
7Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me. | 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! | 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious to me and answer me. | 7Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. | 7 LORD, hear my voice when I call; be gracious to me and answer me. |
8My heart says of you, "Seek his face!" Your face, LORD, I will seek. | 8You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, LORD, do I seek.” | 8When You said, "Seek My face," my heart said to You, "Your face, O LORD, I shall seek." | 8When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. | 8My heart says this about You," You are to seek My face." LORD, I will seek Your face. |
9Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior. | 9Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! | 9Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation! | 9Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. | 9Do not hide Your face from me; do not turn Your servant away in anger. 10Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. | 10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the LORD will take me in. | 10For my father and my mother have forsaken me, But the LORD will take me up. | 10When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. | 10Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD cares for me. |
11Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. | 11Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. | 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a level path Because of my foes. | 11Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. | 11Because of my adversaries, show me Your way, LORD, and lead me on a level path. |
12Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations. | 12Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence. | 12Do not deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. | 12Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. | 12Do not give me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing violence. |
13I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. | 13I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! | 13I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. | 13I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. | 13I am certain that I will see the LORD's goodness in the land of the living. |
14Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD. | 14Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD! | 14Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD. | 14Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. | 14Wait for the LORD; be strong and courageous.
