Emulate Moses' qualities in leadership?
What qualities of Moses should we emulate in our spiritual leadership today?

Man of God Identity

Deuteronomy 33:1 calls him “Moses the man of God.”

• He belonged first to God before he led people (Exodus 33:11).

• His authority flowed from obedience, not position (Deuteronomy 34:5).

• Emulate: guard your personal walk; let public ministry rise from private devotion.

A Heart That Blesses

“Now this is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.”

• Leadership speaks life (Proverbs 18:21; Ephesians 4:29).

• Moses blesses every tribe individually (Deuteronomy 33:2-29); he knows them by name and destiny.

• Emulate: learn people’s stories, call out God’s best in them (1 Peter 3:9).

Humility and Servanthood

“Moses was a very humble man, more so than any man on the face of the earth” (Numbers 12:3).

• He deflects glory to God (Exodus 32:11-12).

• He washes the dust off Israel’s feet for forty years.

• Emulate: choose the towel over the title—real authority is proved through service.

Intercessory Leadership

• When Israel sins, Moses “stood in the breach” (Psalm 106:23).

• He wrestles with God for the people’s future (Exodus 32:11-13).

• Emulate: plead for others before talking to them; leadership knees come before leadership lips.

Reliance on God’s Presence

“If Your Presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here” (Exodus 33:15).

• Moses refuses to substitute strategy for presence.

• Emulate: measure success by nearness to God, not by numbers (John 15:5).

Faith-Fueled Courage

“By faith Moses left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger” (Hebrews 11:27).

• He confronts Pharaoh, parts the sea, and keeps moving when critics shout.

• Emulate: lead by convictions shaped by Scripture, not by polls (Deuteronomy 31:6).

Commitment to God’s Word

• Moses writes the Law and hands it to the priests (Deuteronomy 31:9-13).

• He is remembered as “lawgiver” (Joshua 1:7).

• Emulate: root every decision in the written Word (2 Peter 1:21).

Finishing Well

• On his last day he is still blessing, not bitter (Deuteronomy 33:1).

• He can say with Paul, “I have finished the race” (2 Timothy 4:7; Acts 20:24).

• Emulate: end stronger than you began by staying faithful daily.

Summary: Moses models spiritual leadership that is God–centered, people–blessing, humble, intercessory, presence-driven, courageous, Word-anchored, and enduring to the end.

How can we seek God's blessing for our community, like Moses did?
