How to prepare for God's presence today?
In what ways can we prepare ourselves to experience God's presence today?

Longing for God’s Glory

“Then Moses said, ‘Please show me Your glory.’” (Exodus 33:18)

Where Moses Was and Why It Matters

• Israel’s sin with the golden calf had just threatened the covenant (Exodus 32).

• Moses pitched the tent of meeting outside the camp to seek the LORD face-to-face (Exodus 33:7–11).

• After interceding for the nation, Moses wanted more than rescue; he craved God Himself.

Heart Postures That Invite His Presence

• Holy hunger – a restless desire for more of God (Psalm 42:1-2).

• Bold faith – approaching Him with confidence through Christ (Hebrews 10:19-22).

• Humble dependence – recognizing we can do nothing without Him (John 15:5).

• Covenant alignment – walking in step with His revealed will (Amos 3:3).

Practical Ways to Prepare Ourselves Today

1. Repent quickly and walk in purity

• “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us” (1 John 1:9).

• Purity removes the grime that dulls spiritual perception (Psalm 24:3-4).

2. Set apart regular “tent of meeting” time

• Jesus sought solitary places to pray (Mark 1:35).

• Schedule unhurried, distraction-free moments for worship, Scripture, and listening.

3. Saturate your mind with the Word

• “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Colossians 3:16).

• Scripture is the primary venue where God’s voice is heard and His character displayed.

4. Offer wholehearted worship

• “Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise” (Psalm 100:4).

• Singing, thanksgiving, and adoration tune the heart to His nearness (Ephesians 5:18-20).

5. Present your body as a living sacrifice

• “Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1-2).

• Yielded obedience keeps the channel open for fuller revelation of His glory (John 14:21).

6. Cultivate ongoing fellowship with the Spirit

• “Be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

• Recognize, welcome, and respond to His inner promptings throughout the day (Galatians 5:25).

7. Gather with God’s people

• “For where two or three are gathered in My name, there am I among them” (Matthew 18:20).

• Corporate worship magnifies awareness of His presence and sharpens mutual encouragement (Hebrews 10:24-25).

8. Practice expectant silence and listening

• Elijah heard the “gentle whisper” (1 Kings 19:12).

• Quiet stillness positions us to notice His subtle yet powerful manifestations.

Living Out the Nearness You Seek

• Trust that in Christ you already carry His presence (1 Corinthians 6:19).

• Keep short accounts with God, quickly confessing and realigning.

• Let every ordinary task become an altar of fellowship (Colossians 3:17).

• Anticipate a day when, like Moses, we will see Him “face to face” with unveiled glory (1 John 3:2; Revelation 22:4).
