2. Shield:

The standard shield, larger than the buckler, was used to protect the entire body. It was often rectangular or oval and made from wood, leather, or metal. The shield is frequently mentioned in the Bible as a symbol of God's defense and strength. In Ephesians 6:16 , the Apostle Paul instructs believers to take up "the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one." This passage highlights the shield's role in spiritual warfare, emphasizing faith as a protective barrier against spiritual attacks.

3. Target:

The term "target" in the Bible refers to a smaller shield, similar to the buckler, but often used interchangeably with larger shields in some translations. It was used for both defense and offense, allowing the warrior to parry attacks and strike back. In 1 Kings 10:16 , it is recorded, "King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of gold went into each shield." These shields, or targets, were not only functional but also served as symbols of wealth and divine favor.
