A Lame Man Walks 1Now Peter and John were going up† into the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth.† 2And a certain man was being carried, being lame from his mother’s womb, whom they placed every day at the temple gate called Beautiful to ask for alms from those going into the temple,† 3who, having seen Peter and John being about to enter into the temple, was asking to receive alms. 4Now Peter, having looked intently upon him, with John, said, “Look toward us!” 5And he began to give heed to them, expecting to receive something from them. 6But Peter said, “Silver and gold, unto me there is none; but what I have, this I give to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”† 7And having taken him by the right hand, he raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were strengthened. 8And leaping up, he stood and began walking, and he entered into the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. 9And all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10and they recognized him, that he was the one sitting for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at that having happened to him. Peter Speaks in Solomon’s Colonnade 11Now in his clinging to† Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the colonnade called Solomon’s,† greatly amazed. 12But having seen it, Peter answered to the people: “Men, Israelites, why do you⁺ wonder at this? Or why do you⁺ look intently on us as if by our own power or godliness we have made him to walk? 13The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His servant† Jesus, whom indeed you⁺ delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, that one having adjudged to release Him. 14But you⁺ denied the Holy and Righteous One and requested a man, a murderer, to be granted to you⁺. 15And you⁺ killed the Author of life, whom God raised out from the dead, of which we are witnesses. 16And on the faith in His name, this man whom you⁺ see and know, His name strengthened; and the faith that is through Him has given to him this complete soundness before all of you⁺. 17And now, brothers, I know that you⁺ acted in ignorance, as did your⁺ rulers also. 18But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that His Christ should suffer, He thus fulfilled. 19Repent, therefore, and turn back, for the blotting out of your⁺ sins, 20so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send the One having been appointed to you⁺, Christ Jesus, 21whom indeed it is necessary for heaven to receive until the times of restoration of all things, of which God spoke by the mouth of† His holy prophets from the age. 22Indeed Moses said,† ‘The Lord your⁺ God will raise up to you⁺ a prophet like me out from your⁺ brothers. You⁺ will listen to Him in all things, as many as He might say to you⁺.† 23And it will come to pass that every soul who might not heed that prophet will be utterly destroyed out from the people.’† 24And also all the prophets from Samuel and those subsequently, as many as have spoken, also proclaimed† these days. 25You⁺ are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant that God made with your⁺ fathers,† saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth will be blessed.’† 26God, having raised up His servant,† sent Him first to you⁺, blessing you⁺ in turning away each one from your⁺ wickednesses.”
