The bull, a symbol of strength and service, was chosen for its value and significance in ancient agrarian society. The daily sacrifice underscores the continual need for atonement and dedication to God. Its virtue was applied to the altar by smearing the blood upon its horns and pouring the remainder at its base (ver. 12).
