- G2920 (κρίσις, krisis) - judgment, decision

Usage: The Hebrew verb "din" primarily means to judge or to execute judgment. It conveys the act of discerning right from wrong, making decisions, and administering justice. In the biblical context, it often refers to God's judgment or the role of leaders and judges in executing justice among the people.

Cultural and Historical Background: In ancient Israel, the concept of judgment was integral to maintaining social order and covenantal faithfulness. Judges were appointed to resolve disputes and ensure that the community adhered to God's laws. The act of judging was not merely legal but also moral and spiritual, reflecting God's own justice and righteousness. The Hebrew understanding of judgment encompassed both the legal process and the moral implications of decisions.
