Job 40
Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Par ▾
And LORD JEHOVAH answered and said to Job:

“Many are the counselors of God, and he who rebukes God gives an answer!”

And Job answered and said to LORD JEHOVAH:

“I have come short to myself. What shall I return to you? I have put my hands on my mouth

Once I have spoken and I shall not give an answer, and I will not continue to speak a second time!”

And LORD JEHOVAH answered and said to Job from the hurricane:

“Wrap now your loins as a mighty man. I shall ask you; teach me

If it is that you nullify me and you condemn me that you will be justified

Do you have an arm like God, and do you thunder with a voice like his?

Wear magnificence and heroism and put on brightness and excellence

And pour out the heat of your wrath and see everything that is exalted and pull it down

And cast down sinners in their places

And bury them together in the dust and cover their faces with dust

Also I shall praise you when your right hand has saved you

Behold, Behemoth which I have made with you; he eats grass like an ox

And his strength is in his hindquarters

He lifts up his tail like a cedar and the sinews of his thighs stand up

His bones are strong as brass and like iron

He is the chief of all the creation of God, for he made him that he would make war

And the abundance of the mountains carry to him, and all the animals of the wilderness

Under its shade he lies down; in the shelter of the rushes he crouches

The shadows surround him, and the ravens of the valley surround him

If the river rises, he is not shaken and trusts that he may pour the Jordan into his mouth

In his clouds let them take him, and in the net let him be held captive
