Listen, Shepherd of Israel, who leads Joseph like a flock; you who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine1For the music director; according to the shushan-eduth style; a psalm of Asaph. O shepherd of Israel, pay attention, you who lead Joseph like a flock of sheep! You who sit enthroned above the winged angels, reveal your splendor!
on Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Rally your power and come to save us.2In the sight of Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh reveal your power! Come and deliver us!
Restore us, God; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.3O God, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
LORD God of Armies, how long will you be angry with your people's prayers?4O LORD God, invincible warrior! How long will you remain angry at your people while they pray to you?
You fed them the bread of tears and gave them a full measure of tears to drink.5You have given them tears as food; you have made them drink tears by the measure.
You put us at odds with our neighbors; our enemies mock us.6You have made our neighbors dislike us, and our enemies insult us.
Restore us, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.7O God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
You dug up a vine from Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.8You uprooted a vine from Egypt; you drove out nations and transplanted it.
You cleared a place for it; it took root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground for it; it took root, and filled the land.
The mountains were covered by its shade, and the mighty cedars with its branches.10The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars by its branches.
It sent out sprouts toward the Sea and shoots toward the River.11Its branches reached the Mediterranean Sea, and its shoots the Euphrates River.
Why have you broken down its walls so that all who pass by pick its fruit?12Why did you break down its walls, so that all who pass by pluck its fruit?
Boars from the forest tear at it and creatures of the field feed on it.13The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it.
Return, God of Armies. Look down from heaven and see; take care of this vine,14O God, invincible warrior, come back! Look down from heaven and take notice! Take care of this vine,
the root your right hand planted, the son that you made strong for yourself.15the root your right hand planted, the shoot you made to grow!
It was cut down and burned; they perish at the rebuke of your countenance.16It is burned and cut down. They die because you are displeased with them.
Let your hand be with the man at your right hand, with the son of man you have made strong for yourself.17May you give support to the one you have chosen, to the one whom you raised up for yourself!
Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.18Then we will not turn away from you. Revive us and we will pray to you!
Restore us, LORD, God of Armies; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.19O LORD God, invincible warrior, restore us! Smile on us! Then we will be delivered!
