And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,1The LORD spoke to Moses:
“Speak to Aaron and his sons so that they abstain from the holy things of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to me, so that they do not profane my holy name: I am the LORD.2"Tell Aaron and his sons to deal respectfully with the holy offerings of the Israelites that they have consecrated to me, so they do not profane my holy name; I am the LORD.
Say to them, ‘If any one of all your offspring throughout your generations approaches the holy things that the people of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.3Say to them: If any man from any of your descendants throughout your generations is in a state of uncleanness yet approaches the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person will be cut off from my presence; I am the LORD.
None of the offspring of Aaron who has a leprous disease or a discharge may eat of the holy things until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean through contact with the dead or a man who has had an emission of semen,4No man of Aaron's descendants who has a skin disease or a discharge is to eat from the holy offerings until he is clean. Whoever touches anything made unclean by a dead person or by a man who has an emission of semen,
and whoever touches a swarming thing by which he may be made unclean or a person from whom he may take uncleanness, whatever his uncleanness may be—5or whoever touches any swarming creature that makes him unclean or any person who makes him unclean--whatever his uncleanness--
the person who touches such a thing shall be unclean until the evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he has bathed his body in water.6the man who touches any of these will remain unclean until evening and is not to eat from the holy offerings unless he has bathed his body with water.
When the sun goes down he shall be clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy things, because they are his food.7When the sun has set, he will become clean, and then he may eat from the holy offerings, for that is his food.
He shall not eat what dies of itself or is torn by beasts, and so make himself unclean by it: I am the LORD.’8He must not eat an animal that died naturally or was mauled by wild beasts, making himself unclean by it; I am the LORD.
They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die thereby when they profane it: I am the LORD who sanctifies them.9They must keep my instruction, or they will be guilty and die because they profane it; I am the LORD who sets them apart.
“A lay person shall not eat of a holy thing; no foreign guest of the priest or hired worker shall eat of a holy thing,10"No one outside a priest's family is to eat the holy offering. A foreigner staying with a priest or a hired worker is not to eat the holy offering.
but if a priest buys a slave as his property for money, the slave may eat of it, and anyone born in his house may eat of his food.11But if a priest purchases someone with his own silver, that person may eat it, and those born in his house may eat his food.
If a priest’s daughter marries a layman, she shall not eat of the contribution of the holy things.12If the priest's daughter is married to a man outside a priest's family, she is not to eat from the holy contributions.
But if a priest’s daughter is widowed or divorced and has no child and returns to her father’s house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father’s food; yet no lay person shall eat of it.13But if the priest's daughter becomes widowed or divorced, has no children, and returns to her father's house as in her youth, she may share her father's food. But no outsider may share it.
And if anyone eats of a holy thing unintentionally, he shall add the fifth of its value to it and give the holy thing to the priest.14If anyone eats a holy offering in error, he is to add a fifth to its value and give the holy offering to the priest.
They shall not profane the holy things of the people of Israel, which they contribute to the LORD,15The priests must not profane the holy offerings the Israelites give to the LORD
and so cause them to bear iniquity and guilt, by eating their holy things: for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”16by letting the people eat their holy offerings and having them bear the penalty of restitution. For I am the LORD who sets them apart."
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,17The LORD spoke to Moses:
“Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel and say to them, When any one of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel presents a burnt offering as his offering, for any of their vows or freewill offerings that they offer to the LORD,18"Speak to Aaron, his sons, and all the Israelites and tell them: Any man of the house of Israel or of the resident aliens in Israel who presents his offering--whether they present payment of vows or freewill gifts to the LORD as burnt offerings--
if it is to be accepted for you it shall be a male without blemish, of the bulls or the sheep or the goats.19must offer an unblemished male from the cattle, sheep, or goats in order for you to be accepted.
You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you.20You are not to present anything that has a defect, because it will not be accepted on your behalf.
And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it.21"When a man presents a fellowship sacrifice to the LORD to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or flock, it has to be unblemished to be acceptable; there must be no defect in it.
Animals blind or disabled or mutilated or having a discharge or an itch or scabs you shall not offer to the LORD or give them to the LORD as a food offering on the altar.22You are not to present any animal to the LORD that is blind, injured, maimed, or has a running sore, festering rash, or scabs; you may not put any of them on the altar as a fire offering to the LORD.
You may present a bull or a lamb that has a part too long or too short for a freewill offering, but for a vow offering it cannot be accepted.23You may sacrifice as a freewill offering any animal from the herd or flock that has an elongated or stunted limb, but it is not acceptable as a vow offering.
Any animal that has its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut you shall not offer to the LORD; you shall not do it within your land,24You are not to present to the LORD anything that has bruised, crushed, torn, or severed testicles; you must not sacrifice them in your land.
neither shall you offer as the bread of your God any such animals gotten from a foreigner. Since there is a blemish in them, because of their mutilation, they will not be accepted for you.”25Neither you nor a foreigner are to present food to your God from any of these animals. They will not be accepted for you because they are deformed and have a defect."
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,26The LORD spoke to Moses:
“When an ox or sheep or goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day on it shall be acceptable as a food offering to the LORD.27"When an ox, sheep, or goat is born, it is to remain with its mother for seven days; from the eighth day on, it will be acceptable as an offering, a fire offering to the LORD.
But you shall not kill an ox or a sheep and her young in one day.28But you are not to slaughter an animal from the herd or flock on the same day as its young.
And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.29When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.
It shall be eaten on the same day; you shall leave none of it until morning: I am the LORD.30It is to be eaten on the same day. Do not let any of it remain until morning; I am the LORD.
“So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the LORD.31"You are to keep my commands and do them; I am the LORD.
And you shall not profane my holy name, that I may be sanctified among the people of Israel. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,32You must not profane my holy name; I must be treated as holy among the Israelites. I am the LORD who sets you apart,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD.”33the one who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God; I am the LORD."
