And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
“Speak to Aaron and his sons so that they abstain from the holy things of the people of Israel, which they dedicate to me, so that they do not profane my holy name: I am the LORD. | 2Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they profane not my holy name in those things which they hallow unto me: I am the LORD. |
Say to them, ‘If any one of all your offspring throughout your generations approaches the holy things that the people of Israel dedicate to the LORD, while he has an uncleanness, that person shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. | 3Say unto them, Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD. |
None of the offspring of Aaron who has a leprous disease or a discharge may eat of the holy things until he is clean. Whoever touches anything that is unclean through contact with the dead or a man who has had an emission of semen, | 4What man soever of the seed of Aaron is a leper, or hath a running issue; he shall not eat of the holy things, until he be clean. And whoso toucheth any thing that is unclean by the dead, or a man whose seed goeth from him; |
and whoever touches a swarming thing by which he may be made unclean or a person from whom he may take uncleanness, whatever his uncleanness may be— | 5Or whosoever toucheth any creeping thing, whereby he may be made unclean, or a man of whom he may take uncleanness, whatsoever uncleanness he hath; |
the person who touches such a thing shall be unclean until the evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he has bathed his body in water. | 6The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water. |
When the sun goes down he shall be clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy things, because they are his food. | 7And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food. |
He shall not eat what dies of itself or is torn by beasts, and so make himself unclean by it: I am the LORD.’ | 8That which dieth of itself, or is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith: I am the LORD. |
They shall therefore keep my charge, lest they bear sin for it and die thereby when they profane it: I am the LORD who sanctifies them. | 9They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them. |
“A lay person shall not eat of a holy thing; no foreign guest of the priest or hired worker shall eat of a holy thing, | 10There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a sojourner of the priest, or an hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing. |
but if a priest buys a slave as his property for money, the slave may eat of it, and anyone born in his house may eat of his food. | 11But if the priest buy any soul with his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in his house: they shall eat of his meat. |
If a priest’s daughter marries a layman, she shall not eat of the contribution of the holy things. | 12If the priest's daughter also be married unto a stranger, she may not eat of an offering of the holy things. |
But if a priest’s daughter is widowed or divorced and has no child and returns to her father’s house, as in her youth, she may eat of her father’s food; yet no lay person shall eat of it. | 13But if the priest's daughter be a widow, or divorced, and have no child, and is returned unto her father's house, as in her youth, she shall eat of her father's meat: but there shall no stranger eat thereof. |
And if anyone eats of a holy thing unintentionally, he shall add the fifth of its value to it and give the holy thing to the priest. | 14And if a man eat of the holy thing unwittingly, then he shall put the fifth part thereof unto it, and shall give it unto the priest with the holy thing. |
They shall not profane the holy things of the people of Israel, which they contribute to the LORD, | 15And they shall not profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they offer unto the LORD; |
and so cause them to bear iniquity and guilt, by eating their holy things: for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.” | 16Or suffer them to bear the iniquity of trespass, when they eat their holy things: for I the LORD do sanctify them. |
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 17And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
“Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the people of Israel and say to them, When any one of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel presents a burnt offering as his offering, for any of their vows or freewill offerings that they offer to the LORD, | 18Speak unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them, Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer his oblation for all his vows, and for all his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering; |
if it is to be accepted for you it shall be a male without blemish, of the bulls or the sheep or the goats. | 19Ye shall offer at your own will a male without blemish, of the beeves, of the sheep, or of the goats. |
You shall not offer anything that has a blemish, for it will not be acceptable for you. | 20But whatsoever hath a blemish, that shall ye not offer: for it shall not be acceptable for you. |
And when anyone offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering from the herd or from the flock, to be accepted it must be perfect; there shall be no blemish in it. | 21And whosoever offereth a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD to accomplish his vow, or a freewill offering in beeves or sheep, it shall be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no blemish therein. |
Animals blind or disabled or mutilated or having a discharge or an itch or scabs you shall not offer to the LORD or give them to the LORD as a food offering on the altar. | 22Blind, or broken, or maimed, or having a wen, or scurvy, or scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD. |
You may present a bull or a lamb that has a part too long or too short for a freewill offering, but for a vow offering it cannot be accepted. | 23Either a bullock or a lamb that hath any thing superfluous or lacking in his parts, that mayest thou offer for a freewill offering; but for a vow it shall not be accepted. |
Any animal that has its testicles bruised or crushed or torn or cut you shall not offer to the LORD; you shall not do it within your land, | 24Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land. |
neither shall you offer as the bread of your God any such animals gotten from a foreigner. Since there is a blemish in them, because of their mutilation, they will not be accepted for you.” | 25Neither from a stranger's hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you. |
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 26And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, |
“When an ox or sheep or goat is born, it shall remain seven days with its mother, and from the eighth day on it shall be acceptable as a food offering to the LORD. | 27When a bullock, or a sheep, or a goat, is brought forth, then it shall be seven days under the dam; and from the eighth day and thenceforth it shall be accepted for an offering made by fire unto the LORD. |
But you shall not kill an ox or a sheep and her young in one day. | 28And whether it be cow or ewe, ye shall not kill it and her young both in one day. |
And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted. | 29And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will. |
It shall be eaten on the same day; you shall leave none of it until morning: I am the LORD. | 30On the same day it shall be eaten up; ye shall leave none of it until the morrow: I am the LORD. |
“So you shall keep my commandments and do them: I am the LORD. | 31Therefore shall ye keep my commandments, and do them: I am the LORD. |
And you shall not profane my holy name, that I may be sanctified among the people of Israel. I am the LORD who sanctifies you, | 32Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you, |
who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD.” | 33That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: I am the LORD. |
